Lung Transplant

Set to begin in late 2002, the living donor lung program is directed by Dr. Shaf Keshavjee. Supported by members of the multidisciplinary team, patients within the living donor lung program will be assessed and followed by the MOT Program's team of coordinators.

Living donor lung transplant requires 2 donors per recipient. One lung lobe is removed from each donor and placed into the recipient. Significant assessment and coordination is required to ensure that all 3 patients are well prepared for surgery. Both donors and recipient will need to meet stringent criteria before being accepted for this transplantation option.
