Living Donor Kidney | Living Donor Liver | Living Donor Lung

In 1966, Ontario's first living donor kidney transplant was performed at the Toronto Western Hospital site of the University Health Network. This recipient is still alive and well, and is one of Canada's longest surviving organ transplant patients. Committed to expanding its living donor services, the MOT program now includes a living donor liver transplant program, with plans to introduce a living donor lung transplant program in the coming months. Refinement of techniques in laparoscopic surgery now enable us to offer nephrectomy options for select living kidney donors.

The Multi Organ Transplant program strongly supports living donor transplantation as a valuable option for patients with end-stage organ failure.
